In just five years, we’ve grown from a humble home business with one extraordinary cleaner (wave Christina!) to 140-plus incredibly hardworking cleaners helping over 10,000 happy customers across Melbourne, supported by seven fantastic office staff.

Who do we send out?

We work in teams of 1/2/3 people. Normally we will assign solo cleaners to smaller jobs and the larger teams to spring cleans and move out cleans. We have found that when cleaners work together regularly they often end up being more efficient that when working independently – the cleaners can play to their strengths!

We understand that the people who come to your home and provide your service really matter. We carefully select every one of our cleaners and make sure they are capable of providing the extremely high level of service we expect.

We generally only send cleaners with 2-3+ years of experience, are all English speaking, police checked, reference checked, fully equipped, professional and to top it all off, fun and friendly too.

Meet the Team

Edward Clayton, Maid To Clean Founder

Edward Clayton


I’m an English ex-engineer who fell in love with Melbourne while studying abroad and decided to call it home permanently in 2013. My parents always nurtured two things in me – an entrepreneurial spirit and the importance of a good work ethic. I’ve taken both these lessons to heart and integrated them in to the business ethos at Maid to Clean.

My role in Maid to Clean is split between supporting our office team through optimising and improving our systems and secondly, continually growing and building the business. Aside from managing Maid to Clean, I enjoy keeping myself busy with a range of activities including basketball, golf, tennis, beach volleyball (weather permitting), catching up with friends and of course, plenty of relaxing and watching Netflix!


Assigning Manager

Since the moment I was old enough to work, I’ve lived and breathed customer service. For almost 15 years I have had an extensive background in customer service, administration and management roles. My past career opportunities have taught me many valuable lessons in which has been embedded in my work ethic. I do believe one of the most important things in life is truly being satisfied and proud of where you work, which I am so grateful for is what I get from being part of the team here at Maid to Clean.

As the Assignment Manager, I manage, train and lead my team to ensure all work is assigned to our incredible cleaning teams in the most effective manner, ensuring we meet not only their requirements but those of our customers too. This involves working with large amounts of information, being able to multitask effectively and having strong attention to detail.

I am a big ‘family’ person and any spare moment I can grasp is usually spent with them. I have the most beautiful nieces and nephew one could ask for. I truly feel lucky to have the husband, family and friends that I do, and I cannot wait to have little kiddos of my own one day!


Operations Manager

I come from a strong background of Customer Service, Coordination roles and Sales Management. Multitasking, organisation and just getting things done have always been a strength of mine, however we spend so much of our lives working it is extremely important to me to love what I do and enjoy my time at work. This has made me extremely selective about the companies I join and I have not looked back since joining Maid to Clean.

At Maid to Clean I work with and support our Operations team. We are the main point of contact to all our customers and cleaning teams, and ensure a high level of customer service is consistently being provided. My team and I are always here to assist in any way we can whether it be by phone, email or text.

Outside of Maid to Clean you can always find me having a laugh with family and friends, spoiling my Niece & Nephew rotten, watching trash TV or a dodgy D grade horror movie.


Operations Assistant

I have always had a strong passion for animals. This led me to complete a diploma in Animal Technology and other certificates to land me in a role working in medical research for over 8 years. I was able to work with a large variety of animal species. I have also explored a career in personal training completing a certificate IV. I decided to leave animal work and explore my career opportunities which has landed me here at Maid to Clean.

My role in Maid to Clean is Operations Assistant. This position involves promptly acknowledging and actioning customer/contractor requests for same-day issues, as well as accurately maintaining and updating multiple programs. I must manage and solve complaints with the highest level of customer service and diligence. I also work with our customers and cleaning teams with the aim to build positive relationships and achieve the highest level of customer and cleaner satisfaction.

Outside of work I am incredibly close with my friends and family. Currently I am planning my wedding and enjoying all things wedding related! My other passions include traveling, camping, cooking and spending time with my pets.


Sales and Customer Service

I have been working in customer service roles for over 9 years. From call centres, hosting kids birthday parties to working in the bridal industry – where almost everyone you come in contact with is stressed and wanting perfection. This experience has been instrumental in growing and developing my skill set to ensure I have the ability to provide exceptional customer service while staying calm in all areas.

My role at Maid to Clean is in the Customer Service team although it is split between both sales and accounts. This means I get to speak to potential customers directly over the phone providing quotes, as well as being the direct contact for all our lovely existing customers managing their accounts.

I have recently moved to Melbourne and I spend a lot of my time travelling to Sydney to visit family and friends. When I am at home though, in my spare time I like to keep active by taking some dance classes and if I’m not binge watching my reality TV shows or watching Netflix, I like to spend my weekends outdoors soaking up the Melbourne lifestyle!


Assigning Assistant

I originate from a finance background where I’ve mainly been working as a financial advisor and accountant in Sweden. I’ve spent most of my adult life living abroad, including completing my bachelor degree in the UK and most recently travelled through Asia, New Zealand and Australia. Throughout the years I’ve passed through Melbourne on multiple occasions, but life took a turn in the beginning of this year and I decided to settle down in Melbourne indefinitely. When you have travelled across the world and have gained such diverse knowledge from different experiences, you tend to be more mindful of the kind of ambience and work place you’re after. Myself, I thrive in an environment where people and leaders are inspiring, supportive and go the extra mile to provide a better overall experience to clients and colleagues – something I’ve been lucky enough to find here at Maid to Clean. This is such a beautiful workplace that truly embodies the small business spark, with all the important tools and opportunities available for an exponential growth transformation.

I’m currently working with assigning which suits my addiction to planning, scheduling and organising with an ability to keep large volumes of data readily available in my mind as well as complex problem-solving skills and keeping vibrantly positive. In my spare time I’d like to be active and constantly moving thus keeping my innate country-girl instincts alive through exploring the wild nature and to truly unwind. Besides that I’m passionate about theatre, movies and filmmaking, particularly directing and screenwriting and love to read books and educate myself.


Cleaning Quality Agent

My professional life began working in customer service in a law firm, television, engineering and medicine. Three children and many dogs later, I took a tree change with my husband and two remaining dogs and moved to the beautiful hinterland town of Maleny, Queensland.

The tree change included working as the head housekeeper at a luxury health retreat for the next nine years, managing a dedicated team. The mission was to give our guests from Australia and beyond a life-changing experience, and my role was to provide a tranquil and perfect environment by ensuring that our retreat was a home-away-from-home. I find personal attention to detail marks the all-important difference between a housekeeper and a cleaner.

Back in Melbourne in 2014, I discovered Maid to Clean and was impressed with its values of quality, trust and going ‘above and beyond’. Little did I know that I was the company’s first housekeeper. Life moves on, and after running my own housekeeping business for three years, I returned to Maid to Clean as a cleaning quality agent. Working in quality assurance and training suits me perfectly because I love helping people to be their best and also being part of the team!

Other than my Zen passion for housekeeping, I am passionate about my little grandsons, family and friends, good cooking, travelling to far away places, movies, reading and gardening.


Assigning Assistant

I began my career in reception and admin roles before starting work here at Maid to clean. I currently support the assigning department which involves allocating cleaning teams to services as well as assisting the operations team as much as possible, when needed.

I have always had a passion for photography, however, after spending some time studying it, I found I enjoyed it more as a hobby than career. Outside of work you can find me out and about with my camera seeing what inspires me or sitting at home curled up with my dogs watching tv series or movies.


Recruitment Specialist

For the past 15 years I have worked as a HR Specialist across a range of industries, including; Cleaning, Construction, Education, Retail and Health. I am qualified in Psychology and Human Resources and have recently completed a Certificate in Training and Assessment.

My role at Maid to Clean is Recruitment Specialist. In this role, I carefully review, select and guide only the best cleaning teams to provide exceptional service to the clients of Maid to Clean. I love seeing all the amazing reviews about our cleaning teams. It gives me great satisfaction knowing they consistently deliver on Maid to Clean’s promise of Premium Service.

Outside of work I love spending time with my gorgeous kids, whether it be playing games, going for a bike ride or watching ABC Kids TV. (PJ Masks is my favourite!). Travel is an important part of my life and I have had the opportunity to explore many places across the world, including the United States, Fiji, Japan and Hong Kong. I am looking forward to a special family holiday in 2020.
